Shocking: Google's Home Mini found to be recording every single word you said
Were you planning to buy Google's recently launched Home Mini? Read this before you order it online.

The smart speaker by tech giant Google which was released just last week has come under huge criticism after it came to light that the device was secretly recording every word you said in its presence.

While the company has blamed a faulty button for this and has said that it is soon going to roll out a bug fix for the same, yet the concern seems to have worried many. Also, the fix that the company is rolling out disables the feature permanently and is not actually a permanent solution.

"We want people to have complete peace of mind while using Google Home Mini," Google said in a statement.

There couldn't have been a worse timing for this as the company tries to take on rival Amazon's Echo. While feature wise, Google Home Mini wins over Amazon's Echo Dot but with the recent bug that too in the initial days could cost the company a lot. After all, no one would want a permanent hearing device installed in the room that listens to every word that is being said.

With the touch button now disabled, the company has a lot of fire fighting to do given the fact that not only was the Home Mini recording everything, it was also transferring it to Google servers.

The device could be activated by saying 'OK Google' or 'Hey Google' with a light touch at the top. However, a user Artem Russakovskii noted that the device would get activated on its own multiple times during the day and record everything that was being said.

While voice-based assistants are being widely used in phones and have now been introduced into our living rooms as well, a concern like this cannot remain unaddressed and will for sure prevent a vast number of people from using them.
