Shoe hurled at Rahul Gandhi during UP rally; Congress VP blames BJP, RSS
A man threw a shoe at the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi while he was riding in an open top vehicle during a road show in UP's Sitapur district today. The shoe just missed his head without causing any harm and hit the hand of Jitin Prasada, a former Minister of State for Human Resource.

Later, the man who was identified as Hari Om Mishra and said to be a reporter of a local news channel, was caught just after the incident and is being interrogated.

In a bid to justify his act, he said that Rahul Gandhi was holding road shows and khat sabhas without any break, but he had no time to pay homage to soldiers who were killed in a militant attack on an Army base in northern Kashmir's Uri on Sept. 18.

Gandhi is holding meetings and gathering with people as a part of his campaigns to woo voters in poll-bound UP.

"Someone hurled a shoe at me. The shoe did not touch me, but I want to tell BJP and RSS people that thrown as many shoes you may want to at me, I am won't back out. My brotherhood and love will stay with me; your hatred will stick to you," said Gandhi.

Mr. Gandhi is currently on a 2,500-km 'Kisan Yatra' and will travel across Uttar Pradesh for a month long campaign. The 46-year-old, one of the most protected politicians, will cover around 26 districts of the state during his campaign.
