Shooting of the sequel to Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium to begin by August this year
Irrfan Khan starrer Hindi Medium bagged a lot of praise and awards for its unique storyline as well as the acting skills of its lead actors. Directed by Saket Chaudhury, the film was a hit.

The sequel to the film is being planned with a new director and new co-actors. As reported by a news daily, the sequel of the film would soon be hitting the floor.

Irrfan Khan who had played the lead role was conferred with the Filmfare Best Actor award for his performance in the film in January this year. In an interview to Mirror, he said that producer Dinesh Vijan has been working on an idea for the sequel of the film.

However, it has now been confirmed by sources that the sequel to Hindi Medium has been finalised in which Irrfan Khan would be playing the lead role of Raj Batra, just like in the prequel.

Raj Batra, the main protagonist of the film was depicted as a rich Delhi-based businessman, a harrowed husband who amicably follows his wife's dream and directions for somehow securing an admission for their five-year-old daughter in an English medium school.

Saba Qamar, who had played Irrfan's wife in Hindi Medium, told a Pakistani daily that she would love to be a part of the sequel despite the ban imposed on Pakistani artists after the Uri attack of September 2016.

She was quoted as saying, "After the massive success of Hindi Medium, the producers are all set for a sequel. I hope Irrfan and I get to work in the second installment of the blockbuster."

As revealed, the story would have a bit of deviation from the former plot; the sequel would take a leap by a decade wherein the five-year old Pia would be seen in her teens. The story would engulf the Indian education system but with a fresh tinge with little reference to the original.

However, director Saket Chaudhury who has been part of films like Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Shaadi Ke Side Effects said that he did not have any idea of the sequel. "I have no idea about the film, I'm not a part of it," he told Mirror on being contacted.

Dinesh Vijan the producer of the film will be producing the sequel in collaboration with T- series.
