Dhoni's decision to exclude Sachin from Team India for the final two matches has raised several eyebrows. It seems the rivalry between senior and junior has once again creeped into the team. However, the author is of opinion that Sachin should rest
THE FIFTH ODI in the IDBI series proved the maxim that one cannot go on winning forever – the ninth consecutive win was, in itself, a record and records take a long time to be created. Therefore, even though there were hopes of a whitewash by the Indians, it did not materialise. The home team posted a 300 plus score and our top order batsmen, in an eagerness to speed up the game, faltered. Speed was their undoing.
Anyway, with nothing to lose, the announcement of changes in the team composition was expected. Having already won the series, any captain would like to experiment. That is what Dhoni did. He has been criticised for not continuing with the already proven bowlers of the previous ODIs. But Dhoni has his unique method of winning over his team members. He allowed young Ravindra Jadeja to make his debut and recalled the nearly forgotten Lakshmipati Balaji. Jadeja miffed a chance in the early stages of the Sri Lankan innings when he dropped a straight catch of Sanath Jayasurya but made useful contributions with the bat scoring an unbeaten 60 runs to prolong the Sri Lankan sufferings.
The surprise element of the fifth ODI was the exclusion of Sachin Tendulkar from the playing eleven – it has resulted in innumerable raised eyebrows and Dhoni was asked about it in his press conference. He brushed it off and did not assign too much importance to it. When asked a pointed question, he admitted that Sachin was fit and his absence from the team was not attributable to illness. The hint is obvious – the so-called affinity between the seniors and the juniors is like the saas-bahu relationship: pleasant on the surface but seething beneath the veneer of respectability. This is probably the reason why Sachin is reported to have returned back to India by a late night flight foregoing the T-20 encounter on Tuesday (February 10).
He has been playing for ages and has all possible records under his belt – he should now graciously retreat into the background and allow the young ones to blossom. He does yeomen service at the nets by guiding the youngsters. His wide experience with the bat and the ball and his guidance helps the newcomers. All cricketers feel that they still have more cricket left in them. Sourav Ganguli has already busied himself with the IPL and his Knight Riders. If Sachin could devote more time to guiding the upcoming breed of cricketers, he would serve the cause of cricket better. This subject would be a topic for lively debates everywhere.
.SACHIN REMAINS NO MORE A MASTER BLASTER WHICH HE WAS IN LATE NINETIES.DUE TO SURGERY HE IS NOT ABLE TO PLAY SHOTS WHICH MADE HIM UNIQUE.ONE CANNOT EXPECT SACHIN TO HIT FIVE TO SIX SIXES IN A MATCH WHICH HE EARLIER DID.WHENEVER HE PLAYS A LONG INNING HE GETS CRAMP AND STARTS HOPPING UP AND DOWN.HE IS GIVEN REST AFTER EVERY THREE OR FOUR MATHCES TO PROLONG HIS CAREER..WITH GUYS LIKE GHAMBHIR ,SHEWAG ,YUVI IN THE TEAM HIS ABSENCE DOES NOT MATTER AT ALL TO WIN MATCHES.SO HE IS NO MORE A MR. DEPENDENT.NOW IT'S TIME FOR HIM TO RETIRE AND ENCOURAGE TALENTED YOUNGER GENERATION WAITING FOR THERE CHANCE IN TEAM
.does anyone ask a doctor when he is going to quit?
do decide on yr lawyer after cheching out his age?
does anyone ask amitabh how long he will carry on.........
if sachin is a professional he has to make the choice not us!
.last evening sachin had a press conference when hesaid tht he had decided not to play in t-20 cricket well in advance because he did not want to disturb the balance of the present team - why then did he make such a hurried retreat back to bombay in the dead of night?
.hello !
who ever hav asked this question ask ur self about the records that sachin have given to us n those r precious gifts for the entire nation which is going to be thier for the entire life of this globe, i'ld say he has done lot for the nation n we should give him a option if he wants to qoit then he can or if he hav something else into his mind to make one more milestone for the cricket career he is just allowed. this is why i'm u must be thinking i'm crazy abt sachin n i'm his fan yup but their is something more than what i'm this is just a true expectation from an indian n a request to the entire nation abt this comment is just going to b a matter of news or a gossip but i'ld say he is still able to play n he should be allowed n or he has the option let him take his own dicision. we should feel proud abt him n we should love him what he is now just 35 look at jayasuriya he has got his own dicisions to take on his retirement but sachin is not jayasuriya. i truely feel sachin is our pride n he has option from my side that he can take own deicisions on his retirement. anyways at last sachin we all love you paly wel n be best forever n you are the best n you are the pride of our nation. t

.And to imagine he was a hero last year for his match-winning knocks and what not.
Indians tend to be crazy in their unsubstantiated judgments about cricket.
.SACHIN REMAINS NO MORE MASTER BLASTER AS HE WAS IN LATE NINETIES.HE HIMSELF ADMITTED THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE SAME HUNGER FOR CRICKET AS HE EARLIER HAD .EACH AND EVERY PART OF HIS BODY HAS UNDERGONE SURGERY WHICH RESTRICTS HIM FROM PALYING MANY SHOTS WHICH MADE HIM UNIQUE.ITS TIME FOR HIM TO RETIRE AND ENCOURAGE YOUNGER GENERATION.
@ PRATYUSH........."HE HIMSELF ADMITTED THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE SAME HUNGER FOR CRICKET AS HE EARLIER HAD ."
kindly show me the courtesy from where u assumed this statement...he has never said he dont have that hunger...you are sounding ridiculous...he said, his body is sensetive to injuries, and it takes long time for rehabilitation between ODIs... as far as everybody know abt sachin's comments, i think sachin himself will fall from the air, after hearing, he doesnt have hunger....ridiculous..
.Absolutely undesired statement against the little genius. It seems people derive immense plesasure to pin down Sachin, but why can't they understand they are just increasing boredom in the name of passing judgement. Sachin is an assest to India and has enough power and charisma left in him to guide the Indian cricket for a few years to come.
.Ridiculous Article...pls don't create unnecessary rumors..And this is one of the worst article that I've ever read..shame on u... this is what i felt after reading this article..
.RUBBISH ARTICLE (the portion about rifts and dropping sachin)..its just author's opinion..none of anybody's headache..everybody is entitled to have an opinion in this democratic country....if the article is a view point, it can also be thought as giving rest to him for upcoming NZ series..
