Should we barter Siachen for a Nobel Peace Prize?
Of late rumours have been getting louder that Siachen should be left undefended and the Indian army..

MY RESPECTFUL salute to thee, to every man, woman and child who breathes air of freedom and is ever ready to defend, preserve and protect all that he or she received from his father, grandfather and other ancestors as a part of the motherland and also as a part and parcel of our cultural heritage. Let no man of another land tear it away as that would put us to shame that the waters of the holy Ganga would not be able to wash away.

Perfumes of Arabia might have had a chance to wash away the blood of Duncan, her own King whom the Macbeths, especially Lady Macbeth had got murdered in cold blood and thus committed a sin that remained with a stink on hands of Lady Macbeth and that "all perfumes of Arabia could not sweeten her hands."

Now, it is learnt from whispers growing louder and louder in the corridors of power in the South Block that the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, is harbouring the sinister intention of giving away parts of Siachen on a silver platter to the Pakistani civil and military leaders just for a song. It is further surmised that the leaders of Pakistan may not have to sing either. In any case, the rulers of Pakistan need urgently one ploy or the other to placate people before their anger bursts on the streets of Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar. Muzaffarabad in occupied Kashmir is deliberately kept out of the purview in the present context as they find it hard to call themselves Pakistanis or to ally with a people’s movement of Pakistan like the present one.

Reverting to the simple Sikh sitting in Indian Prime Minister’s chair, courtesy Sonia Gandhi, one may recall that the simple man was born in that part of undivided India that is now a part of Pakistan. Does he have, therefore, a soft corner for Pakistan and is inclined to bend backwards to accommodate the present rulers of that land. He condones the sinister designs of the devilish military and civil rulers of what calls itself an Islamic republic but pays scant attention to love, liberty and equality enshrined by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH). Consequently there is blood and violence all around. Peace has disappeared from the land that prided itself in enshrining the Islamic Peace in its constitution. No one thinks of Peace when violence, arson, loot and rape pay a predominant role in deciding social issues and affairs of state or even matters military.

Why is the Indian political establishment showing a degree of weakness in negotiating for Peace in general and in the Siachen region in particular?
Is the old man in New Delhi bending backwards to please President Barack Obama of the United States to barter India's self respect for something mundane that even a kid would not give a damn?

Is the Prime Minister of India angling for a Nobel Peace Prize for himself in lieu of snow-capped peaks of Siachen?

Frankly speaking, no one knows for sure what the Govt of India is negotiating for to have peace in Siachen. The glacier is now melting and so are the hearts of the bravest of the brave who became martyrs for the cause of freedom for Siachen as a part and parcel of India. Let us not let their martyrdom go down the drain just for some flimsy honour to be or not to be bestowed on someone who is sitting in the PM’s chair not as a matter of his own right but has received it as a “Bakhshish" from someone who found that chair too risky to sit in.

It would be in the interest of both Bharat and Pakistan, may be Mankind in general, if we make a serious effort to put a stop on rumour mongering on the fiction generated by a sick mind dwelling in Karakoram to weaken the resolve of the Indian Army to fight for and defend Siachen.

Let it be known to one and all that Siachen is an inseparable part of India and shall continue to be so through thick and thin.
