Mahajan alleged a nexus between the Jammu Municipal Corporation and Dharamarth Trust in changing the status of the land/ property. A good deal of exchanging hands in the business of changing status of property is not ruled out, said Mahajan.

He further said that “Satsang Ghar” in the Karan Market  is also being converted into a hotel in violation of norms and the construction work is in full swing. Mahajan said this all is happening under the very nose of Municipal Commissioner, who in fact in connivance with Dharamarth Trust and having some consideration is allowing the change by issuing permission in violation of Municipal norms.

Taking on the Municipal Commissioner, he said when a poor man intends to do some construction, he is asked to complete a number of formalities and is harassed by the JMC Khilafwarzi staff until their hands are not greased. Mahajan laments that when an influential man is involved there are no formalities, hell with the norms whatever maybe.

Giving the instance of innocent Sidhra residents who were given an access to encroaching the JDA land and building structures at Sidhra some years ago by the department, now have been dislocated after so many years of residing there. The then JDA authorities at the helm of affairs made illegal deals with innocent people in encroaching land and now dislocated them after so many years without any fault of the residents and now put the innocent people in distress and wasting their hard earned money of the life. Mahajan questioned the efficiency of JDA department where it has gone into hibernation for so many years, when the land was being encroached and buildings raised? Mahajan demanded a high level inquiry into the whole episode and stern action against the guilty JDA officials.

Mahajan also  urged the state government to hold an inquiry in the Jammu Municipal Corporation working in issuing illegal permission to Dharamarth Trust for changing the status of the land and property in violation of Municipal norms, thus depriving the general public of their legitimate rights.
