Shri Ram Sena demands increase in Yatra period, threatens agitation
Shri Ram Sena has threatened to launch a national level agitation, if the duration of Amarnath Yatra is not increased on the grounds that curtailment of yatra period will add to the inconvenience of pilgrims who come from various parts of India and outside to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva.

SHRI RAM Sena Jammu-Kashmir has criticized the decision of state administration for accepting the recommendations of  Shri Amar Nath Shrine Board (SASB) Sub Committee headed by Sri Sri Ravi Shanker for curtailing the time period of Shri Amar Nath Ji yatra to 39 days only from two months.

Shri Ram Sena state president Rajiv Mahajan said that their party at national level is going to evolve a strategy to counter the decision of state administration regarding the curtailment of Amarnath yatra. He said in this connection, he is visiting New Delhi shortly, where the national president Dr. Raj Kamal Gupta, Delhi president Sunil Tayagi and presidents of the party from all the states of India will assemble on March 29 to think over the matter and adopt a resolution to press the state government to enhance the yatra period.

Mahajan further said that decrease in yatra duration is not justified as more than six lakhs pilgrims from all over India and abroad visit Shri Amar Nath Ji cave shrine every year and it will lead to inconvenience for pilgrims as well as administration to manage smooth conduct of yatra.

Mahajan said during last year when the yatra period was also curtailed, the administration faced a tough time to manage the yatra and decided not to curtail yatra period in future.  Mahajan felt surprised why the administration is repeating the old mistakes for which the administration as well as pilgrims had already paid the price. He said under these circumstances it is not wise to curtail yatra period as recommended by SASB Sub Committee and demanded two months complete yatra in the interest of administration as well as pilgrims.

Mahajan also said that Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board has ignored state’s  important source of income and livelihood of the transporters, hoteliers, pony owners, labourers and other commercial establishments, who earn good amount from the pilgrims during this Holy Yatra.

Shri Ram Sena has demanded that the Shrine Board should review the decision of curtailment of the Yatra period in the interest of the pilgrims, who come from all over India to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva. Shri Ram Sena meanwhile threatened to launch an agitation at national level against the decision of the Shrine Board, if their demand is not accepted.
