Shri Ram Sena welcomes ban on gutka in J&K
Shri Ram Sena Jammu-Kashmir has welcomed the decision of state government of Jammu and Kashmir of banning use of gutka and chewing tobacco in the state.
Mahajan maintained that merely banning of gutka is not enough but its implementation in letter and spirit needs to be adopted. He also welcomed increase in VAT on cigarettes in the state and simultaneously demanded complete ban on sale and use of tobacco and tobacco products in any form in the state as well.
Many states in India have banned the sale and manufacture of gutka and tobacco products. This has resulted in less and less street-side hawkers and kiosks selling it on the streets and localities. The ban, as per latest research, has forced manufacturers to shut down manufacturing units.
