The Sarvjan Hitay Sanrakshan Samiti (SHSS), an umbrella organisation of state employees' unions fighting against quota in promotion, has appealed to employees to vote in elections.
The SHSS has appealed to all government employees to cast their vote in the assembly elections to safeguard their rights. Issuing the appeal, SHSS leaders Shailendra Dubey and AA Farqui said by exercising their franchise, the central and state government, and public corporation employees would not only strengthen democracy but also give a befitting reply to political parties that were in favour of quota in promotions based on consequential seniority.
Dubey and Farqui said the Bahujan Samaj Party's policy to grant quota in promotion gave weightage to Dalit employees over 16 lakh OBC and general category employees. They said in the last five years, thousands of OBC and general category employees had retired without getting due promotions.
The SHSS, an umbrella organisation of state employees' unions fighting against quota in promotion, had asked all political parties to clear their stand on the existing quota policy. However, except Samajwadi Party, no other party has spoken against quota in promotion. The SHSS has appealed to state employees to vote against parties that favor quota in promotion.
The High Court has quashed the existing quota policy but the state government has challenged the verdict in the apex court.
