KHALSA ACTION committee has given a bandh call, for a Punjab bandh, to protest against the carnage of the anti Sikh riots in 1984, after the then Prime minister Indira Gandhi's death, as well as ineptitude of the government to being justice to the riot victims and their families.

The committee is a conglomerate of various religious - political radical groups, including the Dal Khalsa, various factions of the All India Sikh Students Federation, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and various factions of the Akali Dal, among others.

The group has made the appeal for the bandh to all people of all religions, race and creed. The Punjab government, on the other hand, has made elaborate security arrangements in view of the one day state 'bandh' call given by various 'panthic' (Sikh) organisations.

Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, has sent clear cut instructions to his officers to maintain peace at all costs. He has also given a clear message that the state government has decided to deal sternly with those who might try to take the law in their hands.
