In a horrific accident, six people have been confirmed dead and 15 are still missing. The captain is under suspicion and the Italian investigators are trying to find out what actually happened on Friday night.
PEOPLE IN the Costa Concordia had their brush with death and six people could not make it out of the modern cruise liner and save their life, and fifteen people are still missing. Although it was not a Titanic like fiasco, yet people who went to have a nice holiday on the Italian cruise returned shocked, wet and losing a lot of property, if not life. What caused the massive accident is yet to be determined but the Captain has been alleged to abandon his ship and escape with his first officer and cash when the accident happened. It was also alleged that there could have been an electricity failure that somehow multiplied and cause a molehill to turn into a mountain. The vessel set sail on Friday and the accident happened on the same night. According to the passengers they heard a big bang and two minutes later they were plunged into pitch darkness.

The Captain, Francesco Schettino, was arrested on suspicion of multiple manslaughter and also for abandoning ship. He was seen talking to a television channel, posted in telegraph.co.uk, whereby he said that the rock that hit the side was the ship was not marked and all they could see was just water. He stressed that he was the last to leave the ship.
Furious survivors, on the other hand, had a completely different story to say. As reported in dailymail.com, the captain reportedly went to salute an officer friend on the shore agoing off the scheduled course that caused the mishap. On top of that people also saw him leaving the sinking ship in a lifeboat, covered in blankets.
The man in the shore and the friend of the captain has been identified and he would be questioned regarding the same. The £390 million vessel, Costa Concordia is owned by giant US cruise line Carnival and is the world’s 26th largest passenger ship.
