INDIAN FOREIGN minister SM Krishna, who is on a five-day visit to Australia will meet members of Indian community and students on Saturday (August 8). He will also meet an Indian student Shravan Kumar Theerthala, who was injured in a racial attack .
Theerthala had slipped into coma after the attack and is presently rehabilitating in Melbourne after coming out of coma.
The Indian foreign minister will also be meeting members of Victorial police, who are going to show him a demonstration of a close-circuit television van, which has been brought into service after a spate of attacks on Indian students.
Earlier, Krishna had expressed confidence that Indian students will be provided adequate security by the authorities after Prime Minister Kevin Rudd assured him about the same. The Indian foreign minister said that he was impressed with the kind of assurances given by the Australian government.
During his meeting with top Aussie leaders, the Krishna also raised the issue of sub-standard quality of education in some educational institutions down under.
