Smartphones to get smarter in 2012
The ongoing Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas in the US has been a big opportunity for mobile companies to showcase snazzy smartphones. Major companies such as Sony, Nokia, Motorola have all come out in the market to show what they have to offer.
INTEL, WHICH is known all over the world for producing computer chips, has entered into the highly competitive field of smartphones chip market. In the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is taking place at Las Vegas, it was announced that Intel smart phone chips would be making its debut with Lenovo K800, reported The Times of India. It clearly reflects the popularity of the smartphones throughout the world.
Similarly, Sony Experia S has also been introduced with a 12 mega pixel camera, which would be capable of producing great images. Along with the bluetooth, the phone would also be easily connected through Wi-Fi. It will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and will provide competition to the smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
At an age where people are saying that some smartphones are doing the same work as that of a professional camera. The debate just got stronger after HTC showcased its HTC Titan II during the CES. The features of these phones are similar to that of a camera, where the phone offers 16 megapixel camera, dual LED flash, red eye reduction, and image stabilization, etc. It has indeed been one of the huge attractions in the event. Syed Bukhari, who has been using iPhone 3GS since 18 months said, “It will surely affect the market of low end digital cameras, as people won't need them when they can click high-resolution images with their smartphones.”
Gone are the days, when people used to carry big phones. They are always on the lookout, for phones which are slim; especially girls look for slimmer smartphones. Shrabani Mukherjee, who is employed at Gurgaon said, “Slim phones look good and are also very handy, as it could fit into the pocket very easily”. Huawei Technologies have introduced a smartphone, Huawei Ascend P1s, which it claims to be the slimmest smartphone in the world with a thickness of 6.68mm.
When Motorola announced its Droid Razr on October, 2011, it was said to be the slimmest phone then, with a thickness of 7.1mm. They could not even hold the title for being the slimmest phone for even a quarter of the year, reflecting the ever-growing market. Hence, people like Mukherjee will be eager to get their hand laid on the new Huawei Ascend P1s. This phone is also powered by 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor.
Other smartphones such as Nokia Lumia 900, with 16GB internal memory, Motorola Droid 4, whose memory can be expanded to 32 GB along with host number of other mobiles are also being showcased at CES, reported The Times of India. With such kind of smart phones, it clearly shows that companies are trying their best to outdo one another in whatever way they can. They are trying to increase their phone memory, get a higher megapixels camera, large LCD display and better upgraded processors in order to attract the customers. Smartphones are only going to get better from here on.
With most of these smartphones set to come out in the market this year, people around the world would be choosing carefully, before they lay hands on any one of them as consumers have also become smarter like the smartphones.
