Smear campaign against civil society members must stop
The smear campaign, which has been started against the civil society members of the Jan Lokpal Bill must be stopped. The government must probe why the CD as well as revelations about the farmhouses are being made now.
EVERY STEP should be taken to safeguard all the five civil-society members of 10-member Joint Drafting Committee for Lokpal Bill from deliberate attempts to malign them through a maliciously-designed smear campaign.

The attacks, especially against Shanti Bhushan and his son Prashant bhushan, both of whom have taken pains for long with Santosh Hegde and Arvind Kejriwal, for drafting a ‘Jan Lokpal Bill’, are turning vicious.

Since at present all of them are members of a duly-notified committee, the union government should announce that every one attempting to derail government move for drafting a Lokpal Bill through its own formed Joint Drafting Committee should be severely punished if his or her charges against members of Joint Drafting Committee are found baseless.

Even though Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan have already taken legal steps against Amar Singh and Digvijay Singh on the aspect, it is also the duty of Union government to initiate its own proceedings against people, who have started a tirade against the members of the committee.

Union government should also summon all records of Noida Authority to establish the real truth about the purported Noida farmhouses given to to Shanti Bhushan and his son. Fact remains that these plots were allotted through media advertisements and a liberal allotment was possible because there were very few takers for these plots at the time of allotment.

Rather several allottees lacked interest in these plots after allotment. Allotment was not at all from the discretionary quota from the UP Chief Minister, and this has been stated by Shanti Bhushan’s son Jayant Bhushan.
