A hydrogen leak prevented Discovery from lifting off on Wednesday. The two wings will join six already in place and make it possible to accommodate a crew to six people by the end of May with enough recycled water to drink
SPACE SHUTTLE Discovery ultimately took off flawlessly on Sunday evening for a space station construction mission. The launch controllers could see the shuttle for seven minutes.
A hydrogen leak prevented Discovery from lifting off on Wednesday. Launch pad repairs plugged the leak and the astronauts were able to board their spaceship and lift off.
The space shuttle is likely to reach the international space station (ISS) on Tuesday to deliver the last set of solar wings and new water-recycling system of urine-into-drinking water converter.
Russian Soyuz rocket launch of March 26 will carry up a fresh crew for the space station.
The highlights of Discovery's mission are as follows:
The two wings will join six already in place and bring the orbiting ISS up to full power and make it possible to accommodate a crew to six people by the end of May with enough recycled water to drink.
