The Srirampur forest department with the help of Srirampur police had launched an operation and raided Gokulkata village near (Assam-Bengal border) of Gossaigaon sub-division and seized many illegal woods.
ON SUNDAY (November 29), the forest department of Srirampur, with the help of the Srirampur police launched an operation and raided village Gokulkata near (Assam-Bengal border) of Gossaigaon sub-division and seized many illegal woods.
The woods were being stored in the place for the last few days and smugglers were preparing to supply it.
Twenty-seven logs of woods having market value of Rs 1.50 lakh were seized from the Assam-Bengal border. Sources said that there were nine logs of shagun tree, two logs of sidha tree, 12 logs of shal tree, three logs of sishu tree and one log of gamhari tree.
