Snippet review of book "Shrimad Rajchandra: Saga of Spirituality"
On the occasion of the inauguration of centenary year celebration of the founding of Sabarmati Ashram by Gandhi ji in Ahmedabad in 1917, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 29 visited the Ashram and also released coins and a stamp on Mahatma Gandhi's spiritual guide and mentor Shrimad Rajchandra on his 150th birth anniversary.

Calling Shrimad Rajchandra as an extraordinary man who believed in simple living, Modi said that the life of the mentor of Gandhi ji needed academic research at post-graduate and doctoral levels.

Also, a book has been authored on the life and works of Param Krupalu Dev Shrimad Rajchandra ji, as he is called by his followers, which is being sold as a hard bound edition that describes his historical and spiritual background along with his relationship with Gandhi ji.

The book "Shrimad Rajchandra: Saga of Spirituality" that has been authored by Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshbhai is more of a biography along with his spiritual thoughts and conversations as well as correspondence with Mahatma Gandhi who had admitted that Shrimad ji had made a profound effect on his intrinsic character formation as he had come in personal contact with Shrimad ji.

The back cover page of the 250-page document, brought out by Shrimad Rajachanra Mission at Dharampur in Gujarat, has 14 chapters that also describe the principles of Jainism. The book has black and white pictures of Shrimad ji and some of the events in his life along with a picture of Bhagwan Mahavira as the book's opening page.

The author sums up the life and works of Shrimad ji thus "On one hand, the manifestation of intense worldly entanglements; On the other, bliss and serenity arising from inner wisdom. On one hand, outwardly engaging in business and social activities; On the other, abiding in the Self. On one hand, a life of ceaseless and fervent pursuit of spirituality; On the other, compassionately composed works for spiritual upliftment. An introduction to the extrinsic and intrinsic life of an Extraordinary Being who attained Self-Realisation is Shrimad Rajchandra – Saga of Spirituality."

I too have a personal copy of the book that was bought during the staging of a play on the life of Shrimad ji in Jaipur a few months ago which was witnessed by my wife.
