While two of the girls died on the spot, the third sister died when she was taken to the government hospital at Bhavnagar. The entire family was HIV positive and were shunned by their neighbours. According to police investigations, the family was suffering from AIDS, and the father of the girls was also very sick. They think that the girls might also be worried about their future as their father is really sick.V Chandrashekhar, superintendent of police, Bhavnagar confirmed their death by pesticide and the fact that all of them were HIV positive.
The main investigating officer JR Zala, said of the case, “We rushed to the spot after 108 emergency services informed us that three sisters had committed suicide. The two had died on the spot while the third died at the government hospital in Bhavnagar where they were taken for treatment." He also came to know that the mother got the AIDS virus while delivering a child and taking blood transplant. The villagers never openly shunned the family, who were below poverty line and lived with other families in a farm outside the village. Although the police didn’t comment when they were asked whether the villagers shunned them or not there was clear indication to the fact that the family was suffering from such a deadly disease, and this was not well received by anyone. Zara also said that, “"The sisters were worried about their future as their father was also ill. We also came to know that the mother of the deceased acquired HIV from the blood given to her during delivery years ago.” As far as it is known the death of the three children can be said to have occured because of the treatment they got and also because of their uncertain future.
