Online social networking comes at the cost real interpersonal relationships which are cemented with emotional effort not idle button flicking. It also keeps youngsters glued to their computers, retarding their physical and mental growth.
TODAY EVERYWHERE young users, including kids, spend an average of a couple of hours in day on social networking sites likes Facebook, Twitter etc. At the same time they are instant messaging on Google talk, Skype, Yahoo Messenger etc., and talking on their phones with their eyes on the TV. Many might call it multi-tasking but all this actually just makes them butterfly minded.
Overall all this social networking is causing alarming changes in young brains. It is not only shortening their attention span but also encouraging a habit of instant gratification that makes them more self –centered. Also children’s brain and body development is damaged because they don’t engage in outdoor activities like sports etc. It is important that use of such networking tools is monitored especially among children.
