Solar Energy experts visit NIT Kurukshetra
A noted industrialist, Dr. Deepak Pahwa, Group Chairman of Pahwa Enterprises and Managing Director of Bry-Air (Asia) Pvt Ltd, and Dr. Celestino Ruivo, Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department, Algarve University, Portugal, visited National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra recently. They are working in the field of solar energy and are considered renowned solar energy experts in India.

THE DUO interacted with the NIT Director Prof. Anand Mohan and his colleagues namely Prof. A Swarup, Dean of Research and Consultancy, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Head, Mechanical Engineering Department and Dr. P.C.Tiwari, Deputy Professor in charge of Industry-Institute Interaction Cell.

Later, the experts visited the ongoing solar project in the Mechanical Engineering Department. They  appreciated the work being done by faculty members and postgraduate and undergraduate students of the department. They also put forward some suggestions to take the work further. Dr. Celestino Ruivo drew attention of faculty and students with his inputs for the solar energy related apparatus during a field interaction.

Mr. Deepak Pahwa and Dr. Celestino delivered their presentations in academic gathering consisting of  Director Prof. Anand Mohan, Prof. A Swarup, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, faculty members, research scholars and students. Dr. Celestino Ruivo demonstrated various solar technologies for cooking and shared his experiences with the same. Mr Deepak Pahwa, motivated students and teachers alike to harness their enthusiasm and curiosity to innovate cutting edge technology. He said that great heights can only be achieved through great depths in knowledge. He urged the faculty to incorporate more of Industry-Institute interaction in the academic system, encouraging students to take up entrepreneurship.

The experts appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and faculty members working on the project and were happy to see the expanse and the greenery of the NIT campus. The NIT Director, Prof. Anand Mohan informed that NIT has already initiated the process and  more interaction between Industry and NIT, Kurukshetra is expected in near future.
