Some common pleas and supplications in favour of gay rights
"Only in certain conservative societies wherein homosexuality is seen as a perversion or is prohibited by law, it is seen as a matter of social shame and criminality. This notion of homosexuality is intrinsically wrong as its current knowledge base informs us. And, I think the Honourable Supreme Court of India has rightly turned down the Centre's plea to defer the hearing on the petitions seeking decriminalisation of gay relationship," said a heterosexual in Jaipur who has a few law-abiding amicable friends as gays, but publicly undisclosed.

To an open-minded urban citizen, one's sexual preference is a private affair and needs to be respected. Everyone knows that gay sex is indirectly accepted as a private part of peoples' lives since prosecutions under Section 377 have been extremely rare.

On the complaints of gay sex indulgence, the human rights activists have found that the police had been using Section 377 of the IPC to harass and intimidate alleged gays without proof.

The world over, people are accepting gay rights and no one should have the control on the physiological needs and emotions of individuals.

Once scribe Harvey Milk had remarked, "It takes no compromise to give people their rights...it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression."

Donna Goddard is of the view that "relationships are valuable no matter who they are between".

Here is Derek Jarman's rejoinder to those who frown at gays: "Understand that sexuality is as wide as the sea. Understand that your morality is not law. Understand that we are you. Understand that if we decide to have sex whether safe, safer, or unsafe, it is our decision and you have no rights in our lovemaking."
