For kids, with clothes and other chocolates, slip in a packet or two of Magic pops, which is a very good Diwali gift as it in a way signifies Diwali. As everyone knows magic pop bursts in the mouth and the kids will thoroughly enjoy the whole thing. You can also say that instead of firing up crackers that increases pollution of air and sound they can burst crackers in their mouths. For the elders, customised linens and other household stuff would be a good choice. If you are gifting something to your parents then instead of the boring sarees and kurtas you can assemble a number of your Diwali pictures with them from your childhood days and make a collage for their wall.
