Some steps to make our environment greener
These are just some steps that can be taken to promote a better environment. There must be lots more which will further enhance the efforts.
LATEST STATEMENTS made by the Environment Minister are good indicators in expressing government’s concern for protecting the environment. The ministry as well as the citizens are duty bound to do everything they can to protect the environment. One key area of concern expressed by the ministry is the large-scale usage of diesel especially in transport sector which is not helping the environment. It would be ideal if the ministry takes up on big scale usage of natural gas replacing diesel in transport sectors which would make the environment better and cleaner.

There are certain steps that the Ministry of Environment can take to keep the environment safe. There are certain resources that the nation has and are yet to be tapped. India is having a huge quantity of thorium reserves which could be gainfully used in producing electricity, however, research scientists have yet to find out ways and means of enriching thorium for use in production of electricity. The governmnet can also undertake an independent study of all the services rendered by Municipal corporations like their staff strength, skill set of the staff employed, equipment used by the staff, current methods used to collect everyday trash, methods used to dispose of garbage from landfills, tie-ups of Municipal Corporations with other agencies/contractors and so on. Based on the study, the Ministry can recommend suitable measures for incorporating better systems for Municipal Corporations to function on.

Another thing that can be done is that a team of experts can be sent to all the leading solar power producing plants in the world for learning and understanding the technology well and introducing the same in India on a big scale. Power generated from solar technology can be the best option in replacing fossil fuel generated power. Some of the equipments connected with producing power from solar energy are expensive and are in short supply therefore the Ministry can make suitable recommendations for mass-scale production of these equipments to be supplied at affordable rates.

These are just some steps that can be taken to promote a better environment. There must be lots more which will further enhance the efforts.
