Some tips to get a good night's sleep
Your whole day depends on how well you sleep. There are a few lucky people who drop off to sleep as soon as they hit the pillow, but many people have trouble falling asleep. The cure for sleep difficulties can often be found in your daily routine. Your sleep time, day to day lifestyle and your bed time habits, play an important role in the quality of your night sleep. Here are some tips that will help you in getting a good night's sleep, so that you can have energy all day long.

Stick to a schedule – Go to the bed at the same time every night, this helps your body to set its internal rhythm and you can get up at the time you want. Also, try to maintain this schedule on weekends too, so that your rhythm does not get disturbed. And if you don't fall asleep within 15 minutes, then get up and do something relaxing.


As per mayoclinic.com, pay attention to what you eat and drink. Don't overeat or sleep on an empty stomach, it will make you uncomfortable. Try to avoid the intake of caffeinated or alcoholic beverages before going to sleep, these drinks disturb sleep.

Get comfortable – create an atmosphere that is ideal for sleeping, like dark, quite and cool atmosphere. Make sure that your mattress and pillow are comfortable for you. If you share your bed then make sure that you have enough space for yourself.

Sleep only at nights – try to limit your daytime naps, because long daytime sleep can hinder your sleep during night time. If you want to have a nap during the daytime then limit it to about 10 to 30 minutes.

Include physical activities – exercising can help you in getting a better sleep, but the timing is important. If you exercise close to your bedtime, you might fall asleep. Otherwise exercise earlier in the day.

Try to manage your stress – if you are tense and stressed out it will affect your sleep. So, try to manage your stress, by getting organized, setting priorities and delegating your task. Plan a break, when you feel that you are overtired.

Nearly all of us suffer with sleepless nights occasionally, and during these times we can use the above tips. But if you often have trouble in sleeping, then it is better to go to a general physician.
