Some tips to improve your digestive health
Digestive problems have become common today primarily due to poor dietary choices. This digestive discomfort leads to many other problems such as sleeplessness, occasional gas, bloating and irregularity in eating food. Good digestion is an essential component of health and vitality. If digestion problems appear continuously, in the long run, they can damage your health badly. But you can avoid and cope with these problems by following some simple tips to improve your digestive health.

Increase fiber intake – Recommended fiber intake for an adult is around 20 to 35 grams. Fiber is like a traffic cop that helps everything to move smoothly in your intestine. So, increase the fiber levels in your diet gradually, and be sure to get enough fluids, that is around 8 glasses a day. Eating variety of fruits is a great way to get more fiber. Try including pears, apples and raspberries in you diet.

Consume yogurt – You have trillions of bacteria in your gut, that help in digesting food. And yogurt contains some types of these healthy bacteria. Although not all yogurts have them, check for live and active cultures on the label.

Chew well – Your mantra while having food, should be taking smaller bites and chewing food slowly. It is a way through which your body sends signals to your brain that you have eaten enough. This technique will help create carbohydrate digestion in your mouth and allows production of 'amylase' the digestive enzyme, which enhances proper digestion. So, try to chew every bite at least 20 times.

More water – There is almost nothing better for a digestive system and your overall health then water. Drink plenty of water and other fluid, especially after you exercise. Drinking little amount of water slows down your digestive system, because the harder stool is more difficult to pass.

Avoid late night meals – Our digestive system tends to slow down in the evening. Thus avoid late night foods, so that there is enough digestive chemicals in our stomach to properly digest our food, reported indiainteracts.

Workouts – Doing some physical activity will help in speeding up the digestion process, as it increases the blood flow to all the organs and stimulates your gut muscles. So, always try to do thirty minutes of exercise everyday.

Try Probiotics – Probiotics are a kind of live microorganisms, which resemble the naturally found microorganisms in the human gut. These Probiotics help in regulating the amount of healthy bacteria in your system and normalizing bowel movements.
