Sonakshi Sinha and Mani Ratnam share their birthday today!
Actress Sonakshi Sinha and director Mani Ratnam shared their birth-date on June 2. While the 28 year old actress is a newbie as compared to the 59 year old director, yet both of them have carved a niche for themselves in Bollywood. The director is known for soul searching movies while the Dabangg actress is known to do highly commercial films.

Mani Ratnam comes from a South Indian joint family and although their family was in the business of making films, children was not allowed to watch film. In spite of this restrictive behaviour, Ratnam grew up admiring the works of Sivaji Ganesan and Nagesh. 

He is known to have revolutionized Tamil cinema. Even in Bollywood he has made films such as Roja, Bombay and Dil Se.

He is married to Tamil actress Suhasini and in 2002 was awarded the fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri. He has also been felicitated with six National awards.

Sonakshi Sinha on the other hand is the daughter of Shatrugan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. She started her career as a costume designer and then made his debut with Salman Khan in Dabangg, which won her the Filmfare award for the best female debut in 2010.

She has starred in highly successful commercial films such as Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg 2 and Son of Sardar. Recently, she is hailed as the selfie queen of Bollywood as she posts a number of selfies on Instagram. 

Among the young breed of actresses, she has a lot of potential as she proved with her acting chops in Lootera.
