Sonia Gandhi and Indra Nooyi more powerful than Michelle Obama
As far as Forbes is concerned Sonia Gandhi and Indra Nooyi are far more powerful than America's first lady Michelle Obama. The list that has been released today has a number of powerful names on it.

SONIA GANDHI and Indra Nooyi both defeated America’s first lady, Michelle Obama to become the most powerful women in the world, according to Forbes magazine. Topping the list released by Forbes magazine today was Angela Markel, German Chancellor, described as the 'undisputed' leader of the European Union by the magazine. Apart from having two Indian ladies among the first ten, another interesting element was that the list had women from almost all walks of life.

Hillary Clinton was named as the second most powerful lady of the world followed by Dilma Rousseff first women President of Brazil. Sonia Gandhi grabbed the seventh position and Nooyi the fourth. Describing 64-year-old Sonia Gandhi, the magazine said, “Lauded for overseeing heavy economic growth, she is also criticized for tolerating political corruption and failing to forge connections with India's fastest-growing demographic--younger voters.”

India should feel proud that not two but four women of Indian origin have made it to the prestigious list.

The third being Kiran Mazumdar, who features in the 99th position; she founded Biocon in 1978 at the age of 25. Biocon has become the second Indian firm to list a USD of 1 billion IPO on its first day of trading, according to Forbes. India’s Chanda Kochhar, CEO, ICICI Bank, has also made it to the Forbes list.

Forbes made a balanced list, taking women from different walks of life, like politics, show business, corporate world and entrepreneur. As observed by a reputed media house, 10 percent of the women on the list have bank accounts in ten figures, including Oprah Winfrey and JK Rowling. The music world is represented on the list by Beyonce Knowles and Lady Gaga. The social networking site, which form a big part of everyone’s life, are also represented in the list by Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg, number five, and Katie Jacobs Stanton, from Twitter, at number 56.

There are names on the list that have entertained us, inspired us and have led various countries. In every way, these 100 ladies have made all the women proud by earning a name in this male dominated world.
