Sonia Gandhi made her first public appearance in Rajghat today along with Kamal Nath and Sheila Dixit and paid obeisance to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.

CONGRESS SUPREMO Sonia Gandhi made her maiden appearance in public post her undisclosed surgery, which was held in the United States last month. Sonia was seen in Rajghat with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and senior BJP leader LK Advani. After laying the wreath on Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial on the occasion of Gandhi’s birth anniversary, she was seen interacting with Advani who apparently was asking about her health.

Along with the prime minister and Advani were also seen Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath. Sonia paid obeisance at Rajghat and was present for 15-20 minutes.

Looking dapper, post the surgery, Sonia did not come out in public but attended some of the important meetings with the top brass of the party.

Meanwhile, troubles cropped up in the city as Telangana Rashtra Samithi supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao began his fast at Rajghat on Sunday demanding separate statehood. Rao is also expected to meet some of the senior leader in Delhi today.

Gulam Nabi Azad, the party head in Andhra Pradesh was quoted saying by IBN Live that the agitation is crippling life and affecting citizens, but should stop as government is in process of consultations over the issue. Azad further stated that a conclusion can be contrived only after talks are held between statehood demanders and the government.
