Sonia Gandhi roars in Gujarat; alleges diversion of central funds by Modi government
Congress President Sonia Gandhi while addressing an election rally in Gujarat's Saurashtra region, ahead of first phase of polling scheduled on December 13, alleged that the funds sanctioned by the UPA government to the state are being misused by the Narendra Modi-led government.

THE UPA chief Sonia Gandhi said that despite all the help provided by the centre, the BJP government has failed to bring portable water as well as water for irrigation in the region.

Alleging that the state government is ignoring the welfare of farmers in the state, Ms Gandhi said that the farmers are not getting electricity despite the fact that Gujarat is selling power to other states. "Although the UPA government at Centre had waived off the loans taken by the farmers but their condition is still grim due to the state government," Ms Gandhi told a crowd of Congress supporters in Surat.

She asked the Modi-led government, “why the promise of building 50 lakh houses is being made only at the time of elections. Why it was not done earlier”. Ms Gandhi said that there is lack of healthcare and education facilities in the state. She claimed that 45% children in the state are malnourished and there is huge joblessness.

Taking a dig at the law and order situation, Ms Gandhi said: "It is so poor that women are not safe in the state." While addressing her first election rally near Gorsamba village in Surat district she said that if voted to power the congress will bring in radical changes in the state. She criticized Modi-led government and said that the promises made by the BJP government are false and hollow.

Ms Gandhi said that BJP has ignored the welfare of tribal population, however, the Congress has always taken care of the tribal people. She said that unlike BJP her party treats all people equally.

If Ms. Gandhi is unhappy with farmers she should first visit Vidarbha and Kondukulum. If she is concerned about Modi declaring houses for poor people she should be discussing the issue with Election Commissioner or advise her own party members to refrain from such activities during election in Southern India. And if she is at all concerned about women safety - she should be talking to Sheila Dixit and see how Delhi can be made safer. I guess her so called 'roar' is more like a thunder that doesn't shower.

Women not safe in BJP led Gujrat? Is it? What does the statistics say about Congress led Delhi and Haryana? Last anybody checked Delhi was one of the most unsafe place for the women.

Roar? That's funny. Their nominated prime minister can't even do a 'meow' and she is roaring? Ms. Gandhi doesn't have much chance in Gujarat. She better focus on next year's national election rather than spending time in State elections where the issues are more micro and Congress doesn't stand a chance.

Congress President and her son had done a lot of roaring in UP election also. I guess they fail to understand the fact that to a common man roars and promises do not affect the common man anymore. They want to see you working on the ground. And all said - in Gujrat - nobody ever saw Congress working on the ground level.
