Sonia Gandhi's condition stable; Manohar Parrikar to visit the hospital
Congress President Sonia Gandhi was admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi, after she fell ill in the midst of the roadshow in Varanasi on Tuesday. She was taken to the national capital late night along with Chief Medical Officer Varanasi BB Singh and then admitted at the hospital for check-up. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will be visiting the Congress president at the hospital in Delhi.

69-year-old Gandhi was at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency for campaigning. She had to cut short the roadshow towards the fag end of the eight-km march route as she fell ill in the midst of the rally and was taken to a lodge, where doctors attended to her and advised her rest. According to doctors, she was feeling dehydrated and had high blood pressure and fever.

She was then advised by the doctors to return to Delhi. However, due to flight delay she was given urgent treatment at Varanasi airport's VIP lounge. Concerned, PM Modi called up former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit to enquire about Sonia's health and sent a plane for her transportation back to the national capital.

As per reports, her condition is stable now. She has been kept under observation of specialist doctors at the hospital. AICC media cell incharge Randeep Surjewala said that the Congress president is overwhelmed by the concern and affection of fellow countrymen and crores of Congressmen, and has thanked everyone for their good wishes.
