Sonowal government dismisses 13 Assam Civil Service officers
Sending a stern message to the corrupt, the BJP-led government in the state has dismissed 13 Assam Civil Service officers.

Accused of bribing former APSC Chairman Rakesh Kumar Paul, the dismissed officers were undergoing probe since their arrest in November 2017.

The officers were sent to Guwahati Central Jail after being arrested in November last for their alleged involvement in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-job scam. At the direction of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the state personnel department on Wednesday evening served a notice dismissing the jobs of the tainted officers.

The notice stated that these officers were posted in 2015 as Circle Officers (Revenue) in different districts of the state. Among the officers one is son of a former Congress minister. The dismissed officers are Gitali Doley, Pallavi Sarma Choudhury, Nishamoni Deka, Himanshu Choudhury, Rajashri Sendeka, Doithun Borgoyari, Badarul Islam Choudhury, Kamal Debnath, Dulal Das, Aniruddha Ray, Devajit Bora and Rumi Saikia.  

The APSC cash-for-job scam came to light after the BJPformed the government in the state in 2016. As many as 35 officers of the Assam Civil Services and Assam Police Services including Paulhave been arrested so far for their alleged involvement in the job scam. However, some of the accused in the case are on the run.
