SOTY makes Karan Johar emotional
Karan Johar has come a long way from being the goofy star kid to a producer, director and now star maker with his latest film 'Student Of The Year' (SOTY). Being his first experience, he is feeling emotional to be launching three kids.

“AFTER MY name is Khan I needed to take a holiday even in my creative field,” said Karan Johar as he explained to the press why after such a strong message centric film (My Name is Khan) he came up with college flick SOTY. The film starring star kids Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Siddhartha Malhotra looks like a glamorous remake of Aamir Khan starrer Jo Jeeta wohi Shikander and the palatial School looks a lot like the Mohabattein school. Barring these two comparisons everything about the film is Karan. Launching three new star kids is no easy feat and Johar says that he feels like a parent and is extremely emotional of the project.

As was reported by nnis, Karan Johar was seen on stage with the three new talents, and he emphasized that the film was in no competition with any other film and that it was more of an experience. He also said, “This film feels very different from many other film that I have directed. It's because as I've said I have always worked with movie stars who don't need any hand holding. With three of them, it has literally been a journey of nurturing them, parenting them.”

The film is slated to be released on October 19, and is co-produced by Shahrukh Khan. Yesterday, the first look of the film was released and it was well received by the tweeple. Many reflected on the fact that Johar managed to launch three new kids and made them look like stars. However, there were some who could not get over the fact that how much the film looked like the yesteryear Aamir Khan starrer Jo Jeeta Wohi Shikander.

Talking about the film, the film maker also says that how he wanted to make one of his favorite film genre with youth, dance and glamor. He personally wanted to have fun and so SOTY came about.
