South Central Railways & MPs hold review meeting
Members of Parliament from Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra under the jurisdiction of South Central Railway have demanded that the Railways take speedier action on the pending projects and initiate works on development of stations, as also on additional lines and new lines.
Thirteen MPs from a total of 34 who were invited attended the meeting, including 10 from Telangana, two from Karnataka and one from Maharashtra. The issues raised by the MPs during the meeting included a new railway division at Kazipet, extension of MMTS to Airport, new railway lines, new trains, construction of Road under Bridges (RuB), elimination of unmanned level crossings and works on tracks and extension of railway lines.
"The zone has conducted a Traffic Vehicle Unit survey three years ago as a result number of RuBs or RoBs are less in the State. We have requested the GM to conduct a fresh survey to know the present traffic in the State as several small towns were changed into district headquarters after reorganisation of districts in the State," said K Vishweshwar Reddy, Chevella MP.

"The demand for a direct train from Patancheru to Adilabad has been gathering dust for several years in spite of many memoranda from the Railway Users Association," said Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh and asked Yadav to call tenders for long-pending project of RuB in Adilabad town. He also requested for improved rail connectivity to Adilabad.
Peddapalli MP Balka Suman wanted new trains from Mancherial to Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad and more Northern States and for the construction of the Wagon Factory in Kazipet to be expedited. Mahbubabad MP Sitaram Naik sought completion of track doubling works as early as possible, especially on the Bhadrachalam and Kovvuru line. Yadav said all the demands would be placed before the Railway Board for consideration.
During a review meeting organized by the general manager of South Central Railway Vinod Kumar Yadav with the MPs on the ongoing railway projects, on Thursday, Rajya Sabha member Rapolu Anand Bhaskar criticised the Railways and said passengers were suffering due to the poor services. They are not getting even clean drinking water at SCR, and are paying money for purchase of bottled water at the stations, he said.
"During the rainy season, rail under bridges are getting water-logged. SCR should introduce rain water drains and cable line ducts. Work on the coach factory at Kazipet is pending for years and the SCR is urged to take up the project immediately. A new railway line is needed between Ghanpur and Suryapet stations, covering 120 km, which will see a new rail line between New Delhi and Chennai," he said.
Malkajgiri Member of Parliament Ch Malla Reddy has said that his efforts to solve the issue of delay in the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) Phase II project have finally borne fruit. In a statement here on Thursday, he said that for past several months he had taken up various pending railway works including MMTS Phase II issues to the SCR General Manager and other railways officials, apart from to Union Ministers in New Delhi.
The results were finally showing, in the form of the Defence Ministry issuing a No Objection Certificate for taking up doubling works on a four kilometre Defence land stretch between Suchitra Junction and Ferozguda. Reddy said that he explained the several Union Ministers how MMTS phase II is facing hurdles from Local Army authorities.
