AFTER FIXING the girders on to the space station, the next step of installing the two new solar wings has been done successfully, despite some initial hitch.
Spacewalking crew installed the last set of solar wings at the international space station on Thursday; the main job of the space shuttle Discovery's mission.
According to NASA, Steven Swanson and Richard Arnold II struggled with some cable connections but managed to hook everything up. "It wasn't quite as smooth as we had hoped but those guys did a great job," astronaut Joseph Acaba told Mission Control.
Mission Control responded with praise: "We're delighted to accept delivery and installation." The next step is being completed on Friday (March 20), with the unfurling of two new solar wings. Now, there will be eight solar wings with four on each side of the space station to get full power for the increased crew.
Right now, landing is scheduled for March 28 after earth-bound journey of space shuttle ‘Discovery’.
