International Space Station to have a big bay window soon. The space shuttle Endeavour will deliver the seven-windowed dome to the International Space Station along with more living space in a chamber called Tranquility.
SPACE SHUTTLE Endeavour in its next launch will deliver the seven-windowed dome to the International Space Station and more living and work space in a chamber called Tranquility.
The dome going up on Endeavour - like a big bay window - would greatly improve the living and working conditions at the space station.
The new instillations will provide the following advantages to the space station crew.
The provision to put heads and shoulders into the five-foot-tall cupola to observe the universe;
A 360-degree views of the space station;
It will also allow the crew to see directly outside during robotic work.
The dome is about 10 feet in diameter and is fabricated in Italy. It will be first carried to Tranquility and then will be moved to its proper location once it is connected to the space station.
It is said that after Endeavour's 13-day next mission, the space station will be 98 per cent complete. After that only four shuttle trips will be required till September this year.
