Barack Obama administration is promoting the private players to take initiative in space missions. Obama hopes that private sector will fill the gap after the space shuttle fleet grounded this year. In an ambitious mission, Obama has proposed spending $6 billion over the next five year to help private players develop reliable and affordable launchers to transport cargo and astronauts to the International Space Station. Meanwhile, the U.S. will depend on Russian Soyuz rockets for the ISS missions. In 2008 NASA awarded $3.5 billion contract to Hawthorne, Californian based company and Orbital Science Corp to deliver cargo to the International Space Station through 2016. Earlier attempt to launch was aborted seconds before the ignition when the rocket put itself into the safe mode after experiencing “Shut down” condition.
