Spain are the favourites to lift the European Championships, when they face Italy in the finals of the competition on Sunday, July 1. But Italy has a good team to give the Spaniards a run for their money. An Indian footballer from Sikkim, Nim Tsering, told this CJ that Spain is likely to beat the Italians.
OUT OF the 16 teams in the
European Championship, 14 have been eliminated, only two teams remain in the competition, Spain and Italy. These two teams would face off in the finals of the competition on Sunday night at Kiev's Olympic Stadium, Ukraine. They met earlier in the competition too, where the match ended in a draw. But, this time, a winner would be decided on who would lift the 2012 European trophy.
Nim Tsering, a footballer from Sikkim, who is scheduled to play I-League this season says, “Spain look to be a strong team and may win the championship.” They have some of the best football players on the planet such as Fernando Torres, Xavi , Alonso, Iniesta and the list just continues. They were tagged as favourites even before the competition started and they have stayed true to their tag by reaching the finals of the competition.
Their style of football has been liked by football fans all over the world. They make the game look even more beautiful. Nim adds, “Their style of playing the game is similar to Barcelona, as they have so many players from the Spanish club, Barcelona.” Most of their players are either from Barcelona or Real Madrid, the two top football clubs of the world.
Itlay, on the other hand, played a good game to oust Germany from the Championship during their semi-finals. They won the game via Balotelli's brace. “They believe in counter attacking style of football,” says Nim. Though many have claimed that Spain are favourites for the finals, but on a given day, they can beat any opponent. Germany's loss was the latest proof of it. Nim adds, “They have an organised defence and experienced midfielders to control the game.” A. Pirlo, their playmaker, must be at his best if they are to lift the European Championships.
But Spain are aware of the fact as to what Italians are capable of, and are not going to take it easy against the Azzurri.
