Special Olympics National Championship Athletics 2014 concludes
The National Athletics Championship, which was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium came to an end, where 554 athletes and 152 coaches participated from 27 Indian states. The highest participation came from the state of Kerala. The competition was organized by Special Olympics Bharat along with WWE and NDMC, held from March 12-15, 2014. The athletes won 243 Gold, 236 Silver and 216 Bronze with each athlete participating in a maximum of 3 events.
aim of the Special Olympics movement is to provide people with an
intellectual disability the opportunity to realise their full
potential, to experience joy and friendship and empower them to
become contributing members of society. The aim of the Games is for
participants to achieve their personal best and to grow skills and
confidence through the entire experience.
