Speculation is rife that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam chief Velupillai Prabhakaran is dead and his body has been found by troops of Sri Lankan army in Mulaitheevu, where he had been cornered along with a few hundred Tamil tigers.

Rumours of Prabhakaran’s death has also led to widespread tension in Chennai, where large number of people came to the streets after hearing the  news of his probable death, along with a number of LTTE leaders.

Sources said that Prabhakaran along with his fighters committed mass suicide and thereafter their bodies were destroyed in a huge explosion. Sri Lankan army however has maintained that they have not found any trace of Prabhakaran and had no clue about his death.
