Spice Jet has announced to give free life time air tickets to Indian Olympic winners from the 2012 London Games. It is a great gesture by the private airliner.
INDIAN ATHLETES during the London Olympics 2012 brought laurels to the nation as it was the best Olympic performance ever by an Indian team winning six Olympic medals. MC Mary Kom, Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Saina Nehwal, Gagan Narang, and Vinay Kumar were the Olympic medalists from India, will be reaping the benefits that have been showered by the central and state governments. Now, a private airline, Spice Jet, has also decided to reward the 2012 Olympic winners with free air tickets for life. It is a huge gesture by the airline.
The airlines told NNIS, “Spice Jet Limited is proud to be associated with these winners, who brought great moments of achievement for India
at this gathering of sports
persons from across the globe. It is an effort of Spice Jet to be part of sports that has impact on the national mood, affects wellness and contributes to the prestige and honour of the nation.” It is a huge gesture by the airlines at a time when the Indian airlines industry is not doing too well.
MC Mary Kom won bronze in Boxing, Sushil Kumar won silver and Yogeshwar Dutt won bronze in Wrestling, Gagan Narang and Vinay Kumar won bronze and silver respectively in shooting, and Saina Nehwal won a bronze medal in badminton. All these athletes won Olympic medals after they toiled and practised hard for the Games. After years of hard work and sacrifice, the sportspersons deserved all the cash and kind rewards, which have been gifted to them from various quarters.
