Sports calendar for PSUs finalised
Addressing the media at Centure Hotel, Srinagar, Member Planning, Airports Authority of India, Sudhir Raheja, said that AIPSSPB annually conducts tournaments in various games for its members.
All India Public Sector Sports Promotion Board,( AIPSSPB )the apex body for conduct of sports activities in the Country, has finalized sporting calendar for the year 2010-11.The sports event include Badminton, Cricket, Chess ,Cultural competition, Caron, Footbal, Hockey, Tabletenis, Volleyball and athletics to be hosted by FCI, BSNL, ONGC, Coal India, Indian Oil, AAI, Coal India, LIC and ONGC respectively.
 
Addressing the media at Centure Hotel, Srinagar, Member Planning, Airports Authority of India, Sudhir Raheja, said that AIPSSPB annually conducts tournaments in various games for its members. He said PSU play an important role in the development of sports activities in the Country by offering employment, scholarships, stipened etc to promising young sports persons of the country. Raheja said that various PSU’s have created sports infrastructure and also sponsor leading tournaments conducted in the Country.
 
Later, AIPSSPB also conducted an award function for showing better performance in the sports activities.
 
The renowned footballers of the Kashmir valley, Mohammad Yousuf Dar, Farooq Ahmed and Abdul  Majid Kakroo were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.
 
These footballers awarded trophy to Air India as second runner-up award, while Executive Director LIC, K. B. Saha gave runner up award to ONGC. Similarly, Director BSNL, who is also Vice President of AIPSSPB gave award to the Ist runner up LIC, while the Chief Guest, Sudhir Raheja gave award to Indian Oil Corporation.
 
On this occasion, the renowned footballers of Kashmir, Mohammad Yousuf Dar, Farooq Ahmed and A. M. Kakroo were presented mementos in recognition of their outstanding performance in the field of football.
 
The three footballers in their speech appreciated the spirit of AIPSSPB for honoring them and requested that such functions should be held in future also which would encourage the budding footballers in the valley.
