Sports Minister congratulates PV Sindhu for her World Championship medal
Indian shuttler, PV Sindhu brought smiles across Indian badminton fans after her stupendous effort, which helped her clinch the bronze medal in the World Championships in Guangzhou, China. Praises poured in from several quarters, including Sports Minister, Jitendra Singh.
“Congratulations on your outstanding performance. You have made the country proud. The ministry stands committed to supporting your endeavour to bring laurels to India
in the future,” said Jitendra Singh, as per this NNIS video. After the failure of Saina Nehwal in the tournament, all eyes were on PV Sindhu to deliver, and how well did she deliver was for everyone to see.
The Indian shuttler had a good run in the World
Championship, where she lost to the eventual champion from Thailand, Ratchanok Intanon in the semi-finals. But, en route, she won a number of good players, hence earned a name amongst the best of the best shuttlers from around the world.
This medal winning performance is a major boost to Indian badminton, which has been growing at a good pace. With Sindhu so young, one can expect greater things from her in the near future as well. Now, Indian fans have two world class players to look upto in the form of already established shuttler, Saina Nehwal and the upcoming star, Sindhu.
No Indian girl had ever won a medal in the World Championships before Sindhu's achievements in the 2013 World Championships. This is not for the first time that Sindhu has brought laurels to the country, as she also won gold in the 2013 Malaysian Open Grand Prix, silver medal in 2012 Dutch Open. But, this 2013 World Championsips medal is the highlight of her career so far.
