Sri Lanka will be led by Sangakkara who is hopeful of performing well, even without Muralidharan, Fernando (injured), Lasith Malinga, Ajantha Mendis (dropped) However, they have new youngsters who have shown signs on promise in the recent odi series against India. Sri Lanka has slipped to number 7 in the ODI ranking and they need to perform well if they want to move up the ladder.

The dew factor would come into play and the team winning the toss will want to field first.
Bangladesh’s fast bowler Mashrafe Mortaza will not be playing today’s match due to a shoulder injury. Still Bangladesh is very much capable of beating the weakened Sri Lankan team as their confidence would be high with the return of players who were involved in the IPL.
India are the favorites to win the tri series but fielding and bowling would be a major concern for them. India will play its first ODI against Sri Lanka on January 5, Wednesday.
