The Sri Lankan Army has released a series of visuals confirming the dead of the LTTE chief Prabhakaran. The visuals show the unwounded body with a cloth covering the forehead; which, is believed to have suffered a gun shot wound.
WITHIN HOURS after Tamil rebels claimed that LTTE chief Prabhakaran was safe and secure, the Sri Lankan Army for the first time has released visuals that confirm the end of the Tamil tiger’s supremo.
Army chief Sarath Fonseka said that Prabhakaran’s body was recovered from the battle zone on Tuesday. Immediately after the confirmation by Army chief, the Lankan television put on air a video that shows Prabhakaran’s body being inspected by the Army officials.
The slain LTTE leader’s head is covered with a cloth as he is believed to have suffered gun shot wound in the forehead. The rest of his face and body apparently shows no wounds as soldiers can be seen looking intently at their implacable foe, Prabhakaran.
Confirmation of his death by the Army comes in the wake of claims made by the Tamil rebels, who said on Tuesday that Prabhakaran was alive and not dead.
That the threat from LTTE was more or less neutralised was made clear by the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who told the parliament Tuesday that Sri Lanka had been liberated from terrorism.
Sri Lankan government also announced the end of hostilities as the war with LTTE had been closed successfully.
I still dont believe that he is dead. This dead corpse could be a decoy of his another side....Hope he is still alive with his famnily in Malaysia......
There is as much authenticity in saying "the four Gandhis elected as MPs now had inherited their throne from the so-called father of the nation" as in claiming LTTE killed the grandson of J Nehru. Maybe, an LTTE cadre or sympathizer could probably have eliminated him in revenge for his faux pas of sending Indian Military to crush them. He only got thousands of jawans dead and mutilated in the disastrous campaign. But, was there any credible investigations to rule out other possibilities - like engineering a 'sympathy wave' to help revive the party that was almost dead after his disastrous performance and scandals exposed by his ex-chums?
