Sri Lankan skipper Chandimal is not likely to follow on Sourav Ganguly's footsteps
After having a poor run recently in the series against Pakistan, Sri Lankan team has reached India and had its first practice session on Thursday.

In the last series against Pakistan in the UAE, except for the Test series, the Lankans suffered a clean sweep in ODI as well as the T20I series at the hand of the Pakistanis.

After reaching India to play a complete series including three Tests, ODIs and T20Is respectively, team Sri Lanka met the press for the first time but neither their interim coach Nic Pothas nor skipper Dinesh Chandimal said something new that could pull the team from their bad patch. Although Chandimal said that the team had armour ready to attack #Virat Bahini but he sounded non-confident.

Chandimal is not likely to follow Sourav Ganguly's trick of using Rahul Dravid as wicketkeeper in the 2003 ICC World Cup.

Skipper Chandimal, who is also very good behind the stumps, too should wear the keeping gloves when facing a strong Indian team. It's hightime that Sri Lanka dropped Niroshan Dickwella and played an extra bowler or an all-rounder against India.

Sri Lankan cricket is going through a lean phase after their chief coach Graham Ford resigned earlier this year, as a result of which their fielding coach had to assume duties of the chief coach. After the retirement of Kumar Sangakkara, our southern neighbours have been in turmoil.

Sri Lanka will play against the Board President's XI in a two-day fixture starting from Saturday, and the first Test will begin from November 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It's after eight long years that Sri Lanka would be facing India in a Test series in India.
