Sri Lankan Tamils did not Kill Rajiv Gandhi, Prabhakaran did
Gujaratis did not kill Mahatma Gandhi, Nathuram Godse did. The Congress did not retaliate against the Gujaratis. Sikhs did not kill Indira Gandhi. Beant Singh, a Sikh did. The Congress workers allegedly went on a rampage killing about 3000 Sikhs and internally displacing over 20,000. Sri Lanka Tamils did not kill Rajiv Gandhi, LTTE leader Prabhakaran did.

The Congress Government allowed the Sri Lankan forces to kill Prabhakaran and hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankan Tamil civilians. It condones human rights abuses by Sri Lankan security forces. It has handed over an Indian island to Sri Lanka. It silently watches Sri Lankan Navy kill Indian Tamil fishermen and seize their boats. It provides aid for infrastructure development in Sri Lanka.

Short of giving Bharat Ratna to President Rajapakshe for killing Prabhakaran, India seems ready to do anything for Sri Lanka. Even vote against the UN resolution sponsored by the US condemning Sri Lanka for crimes against humanity during its war with LTTE. In the process, India refuses to acknowledge that Sri Lankan Tamils are ethnic Indians. It forgets that Indira Gandhi armed and trained the LTTE to protect Sri Lankan Tamils from the Sinhala majority and ensure Indian domination of the Indian Ocean and retain the ability to switch its naval forces from west to east and vice versa if required. It forgets that Rajiv Gandhi sent in Indian armed forces into Sri Lanka to ensure that the Sri Lankan Tamils were protected from atrocities of Sri Lankan Armed forces and Tamil majority areas had political and economic autonomy.

What Other Nations Do For their People

Cyprus has people of two nationalities, Greeks and Turks. In 1974, the Greek majority (80%), with the aid of the Military Junta in Greece staged a coup and took over power. In response, Turkey launched a military invasion to protect the interest of Turkish Cypriots. Cyprus is now divided into two parts, Greek Cyprus and Turkish Cyprus. 60,000 Turkish Cypriots moved to the north to escape persecution by Greeks. Cyprus has been at peace ever after.

Georgia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia are two regions of Georgia with a large population of ethnic Russians. Both regions wanted political autonomy from Georgia and had launched independence struggles. The Russians supported the struggles. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated that he would "protect the life and dignity of Russian citizens wherever they are".

In 2008, Georgia launched full scale military operations against South Ossetia to regain control of the territory. The Russians immediately intervened with their naval and ground forces. Within five days, the Georgian forces were defeated and withdrew.

Falklands is a tiny group of islands near the southern tip of South America with a population of a few thousand. It has been claimed by Britain, France and Spain and later Argentina. Britain re-established its control over the islands in 1833 and decided to colonize it in 1840 with the induction of 50 settlers which increased to 200 by 1849. The population has since expanded to a few thousands. Argentine forces invaded and occupied the islands in 1882. The British government dispatched its forces to retake the islands. The resulting conflict lasted 74 days and ended with the Argentine surrender which returned the islands to British control. 255 British military men died to protect a few thousand settlers of British origin.

Prime Minister David Cameron has warned Argentina that Britain would always be ready to defend British citizens in the remote Falkland Islands.

Conclusion

It is a shame that in spite of the historical precedences quoted above, the Indian Government is unwilling to protect the Sri Lankan Tamils who are ethnic Indians and allows the Sri Lankan Armed Forces, Government and the Sinhala majority to commit all kinds of atrocities on the hapless Tamils.

Is the Congress Government trying to punish the Tamil people for the death of a member of the Gandhi family? Or are we being ruled by a bunch of cowards who have no national pride and are ready to be bullied by all our neighbours and non state actors?

The Indian Government is like an old elephant. It is afraid to fight. It cannot see the realities of the world. It is thick skinned. It does not feel humiliations heaped upon it by its neigbours including the tiny Maldives, tiny countries like Italy, Denmark and Switzerland and terrorist organizations. India is a soft nation with the second largest population, the fourth largest economy and the fourth largest armed forces in the world. It has the largest youth population in the world. Yet it cannot fight to defend its own people. It cannot even deploy its navy and coast guard to protect Tamil fishermen.

Are there any volunteers from the Tamil people, the proud, patriotic and young Indians who are willing to fight for the Sri Lankan Tamils and throw out the cowardly Indian Government who helplessly watch the erosion of national pride and atrocities on its own people?

Any killing is condemnable, whoever does it... yes, sometimes we blame a nation for a person. We do this exactly when we think of Pakistan. Ajmal Kasav did the blast but Pakistanis did not.. in this way examples can be multiplied.

The article starts with, "Gujaratis did not kill Mahatma Gandhi, Nathuram Godse did. The Congress did not retaliate against the Gujaratis." There seems to have been a grave mistake on the writer's part. Reading the analogy of the rest of the sentences in the paragraph, it seems he wanted to say "Maharashtrian did not kill MG. Nathuram Godse did." Godse was a Maharashtrian, not a Gujarati. Even then, the analogy seems to be incorrectly placed. Going by the latter sentences, it actually should be " 'Hindus' did not kill MG. Godse did" There was no all pervasive anti-MG statement amongst the Maharashtrians. Godse was a extreme right wing Hindutvavadi, who just happened to be a Maharashtrian. If you compare the latter analogies, Sikhs-Indira, Tamils-Rajiv, inaccuracy of the first sentence appears even more starkly!
What a great loss that this Pravakaran brought to India!
