Sridevi's ashes to be immersed in the sea at Rameswaram today
An urn carrying the ashes of cine star Sridevi was brought to Chennai by a special airplane on Friday by her husband Boney Kapoor for immersion in Rameswaram today, it is reported.

From Chennai, a special airplane will fly the ashes to the holy city of Rameswaram today and which will be immersed in the sea there, it is learned.

Sridevi, 54, had died on February 24 in a Dubai hotel by accidentally drowning in a bathtub. Her body flown brought to Mumbai on February 27 by a private chartered plane after Dubai authorities determined that there was no foul play in her death. She was cremated at the Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium on February 28 in Mumbai with full state honours.

Sridevi (13 August 1963 - 24 February 2018) was an Indian actress and film producer who starred in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films with appeal and popularity.

On the demise of Sridevi, his wife, Boney Kapoor, wrote on social media, "To the world, she was their Chandni, the actor par excellence, their Sridevi, but to me, she was my love, my friend, mother to our girls, my partner. To our daughters, she was their everything, their life. She was the axis around which our family ran."
