FINALLY! THERE is a reason to celebrate for all Kolkata Knight Riders’ fans. KKR registered its first victory in Durban after dramatically defeating Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday (April 21).

IPL season -2 began on an unpleasant note for KKR. They burned their faces with shame after losing a match against Deccan Chargers. In fact, they created a history by scoring lowest total ever at Capetown. However, every day is not Sunday.

Well! Match began with the outstanding shot played by Irfan Pathan for Kings XI Punjab. He entertained the crowd with five marvelous boundaries and a huge six. He scored 32 runs in just 17 balls with a strike rate of 188.24. Irfan footprints followed by Yuvraj Singh and Mahela Jayawardhane contributed a total of 158 in 20 overs for Kings XI Punjab.

In response to this respectable target, KKR’s opener batsman and West Indies skipper Chris Gayle started the inning with fire cracking shots all over the ground. Unfortunately, the hero of the first inning- Irfan Pathan was Gayle’s target. He turned out to be the most expensive bowler. In his three over, he gave 27 runs including two wide deliveries. Gayle scored 44 in just 26 balls with two boundaries and four good looking sixes.

He played brilliantly. The best part was, most of the run was scored in point, which is supposed to be the most typical cricketing area. And, it clearly gives a message for all cricket lovers across the world that T-20 is a true format of cricket, which has equal probability to perform well for skilled batsman as well as for smart bowlers.

The loneliest man in the KKR team, none other than the owner, Shahrukh Khan, finally, got a reason for a genuine smile. He seems to be lost these days. By looking at his face, you can clearly figure out that there is a huge difference between IPL - Season 1 and 2. In Season 1, they began on a memorable winning note, however, in Season 2, they began with a memorable horrible note.

Apart from on field issues Shahrukh Khan has off the field issues as well- sacking Dada (Ganguly) as a captain. “It was a cricketing decision. People who have cricketing head and mind—Dada, Buchnan and team management—had taken the decision. I hope it is for the betterment of the team,” Shah Rukh said.

Anyway, it’s not a day to remember bitter memories. It’s a day for celebration. KKR has opened their winning account of IPL-Season 2 with declaring man of the match - Chris Gayle. And, recalled their team anthem to everybody ‘Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo re...’.
