Mahajan said that their organization, time and again, had made the request for shifting of institute and the Jammu University administration in this regard has already made a proposal that the next session for the students of Institute of Music and Fine Arts would be held in the premises of the New University Campus, Jammu, but nothing has been done about it so far.
Mahajan further said that two years ago Shri Ram Sena had brought the situation of the building to the notice of the then Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, and he had personally visited the institute and take stock of the situation and framed a 4-member committee to resolve the issue but all in vain with no outcome till date. Mahajan also said that he had personally met with Vice Chancellor Varun Sawhney last year in this regard who assured shifting of institute with in short period but nothing done till todate.
He appealed to the authorities to shift the students and staff of Institute of Music and Fine Arts from Poonch House to New Campus of Jammu University at the earliest in view of the safety of the students and the staff. In case of any untoward incident on account of lapse from authorities, the whole responsibility shall lie on the authorities concerned, added Mahajan.
