THE STAGE is all set for Delhi Metro to make further inroads to Gurgaon as alignment for the new corridor connecting Dwarka and Iffco Chowk has almost been finalised. The new corridor will connect Dwarka, Palam Vihar, Sector 18, Sector 23 and would be almost 12 km long. It will also cut down down the travelling time for many who have to take a circuitous route to reach Dwarka from Gurgaon and vice versa. The new corridor will have stops at Palam Vihar, Sector 23 and Sector 18.

A DMRC spokesperson informed that approval for the new alignment has come but it has not been decided whether the line linking Dwarka and IFFCO chowk would be the Airport Express or the Blue Line.
With this Dwarka and Gurgaon ride will require only 12 to 15 minutes of travel. The project report and environmental study for the metro link would be taken up soon. DMRC said that whether the project would be a regular one or an express line depends on the funding from Haryana government.
This would be the second metro link connecting Delhi and the millennium city, and it will play an important part in bringing it closer to West and Central Delhi. Metro officials also predicted that it would also help in bringing down the heavy load on the HUDA City Centre-Jahangirpuri line, which carries alsmost 6 lakh people every day.
